The Players
Peter Hale
Vocals, guitar, bodhran
Inspired by his Connemara-born grandparents, Pete brings the songs of his Irish heritage to life, playing in pubs and festivals around New England. For more than 10 years he performed weekly at Ri Ra Irish Pub in Portsmouth, NH as part of the duo òran mór, which also played the Boston Celtic Music Festival and The ICC's Boston Irish Festival. In the maritime group Mudhook, Pete has performed at the Mystic (CT) Sea Music Festival, Portsmouth (NH) Maritime Folk Festival, and Boston’s 4th of July HarborFest. He’s also had the pleasure of singing at traditional music festivals in Ireland and the UK.
A writer by trade, he loves sharing the stories told in the songs he sings.
Hannah Gathman
Vocals, bodhran, tin whistle
Hannah grew up in Missouri learning the tin whistle, bodhran, Irish singing, and stepdance with St. Louis Irish Arts. After some time away from music in her 20s, she returned to the session scene at the iconic Green Briar Pub in Brighton (RIP), where she played with a laundry list of Boston's impressive trad players. After moving to Portland, ME for a time, she's now based in Salem, MA and often seen singing and playing (and occasionally folding to peer pressure and dancing a treble reel) at O'Neill's Irish Pub. She has a penchant for A Mixolydian tunes and crushingly sad songs.
Tim O'Toole
Vocals, bouzouki, mandolin
Based in Salem, MA, Tim uses his powerful voice to share the genius of influences ranging from Christy Moore and Luke Kelly to Shane MacGowan and Stan Rogers. Tim also has cultivated a deep collection of traditional tunes that regularly gets toes tapping and dancers dancing. His eclectic repertoire of folk is well suited to making a racket in any Irish pub, where he does his part to regulate the global supply of Guinness.
